Brinjal cultivation changes lot of 300 farmers in Gafargaon

Bumper production of traditional ‘Lafa Brinjal’ in Gafargaon under Mymensingh has changes the lot of over 300 growers this season .  
Though Now this Lata Brinjal has been facing extinction for various reasons it was cultivated at Kacharipara of Charmoslondo village in Charalgi Union under gafargaon Upazila.
Some 50 to 60 farmers cultivated this in this area. To meet up the demand of Gafargaon, this brinjal is being sent out across the country.
The wheels of fortune of more than 300 farmers have been changed by cultivating this round and long brinjal at the different villages of Charalgi, Datterbazar, Tangabo and Panchbag Unions at Gafargaon under Mymensingh. The green pageantry of brinjal fields is seen in the horizon of Gafargaon.  
The farmers are now very happy because of bumper production and high market price . They are only dependent on paddy cultivation in their lands but the cultivation of brinjal in the same lands have added new dimension in agriculture. This successful evolution of agriculture has been keeping important contribution on the livelihood of farmers. Produced brinjal of four unions are now being sent to Dhaka including many districts.
Because of huge fertility of soil at the villages of Charalgi, Datterbazar, Tangabo and Panchbag unions , this vegetable is more profitable than paddy. At present, Noyapara, Charmoslondo, Jiratipara, Kacharipara, Kurutolipara, Burakhali, Nidhiarchar Vatipara, Charkamaria, Charalgi villages of Charalgi union, Brahmmonkhali, Dubasia, Baroihati, Tangabo villages of Tangabo Union, Charshankhchura, Khurshidmahal, Gavishimul villages of Panchbag Union, rural area of Datterbazar Union , brinjal are being produced largely.
Upazila Agriculture Officer S.S.Farhana Hussain informed, brinjal has been produced in Charalgi, Tangabo and Datterbazar including other unions in this year. Innumerable farmers are benefitted by cultivating brinjal on 170 hectares of lands rising fixed target.
Farmer Siru Mea of Nidhiarchar village under Charalgi Union said , he has cultivated brinjal in his one acre land. He spent TK 40,000 in cultivation. He has sold brinjal about TK 1 lakh till now. He hoped that he could sell brinjal at least TK 1. 50 lakh.
Helal Mea ,farmer of Nidhierchar village informed , he has cultivated brinjal on one and a half acres of land, Barek, Asmat Ali, Baten, Dulal Uddin Hannas and others have cultivated brinjal in their lands. They also informed, they have cultivated brinjal at the inspiration of local Agriculture Department.
