Exotic strawberries with aromas of red gorgeous colour and sweet flavors have been produced in the wake of the flowing Shitakalaksha in Sripur and Kapasia upazilas of Gazipur.
Although strawberries are widely used as a result of wintering countries, strawberries are now widely known in Bangladesh for the welfare of marginal farmers. Strawberry cultivation is becoming popular among the farmers of Gazipur on a regular basis due to market demand, yields and prices.
According to the people concerned in farming, the aroma of strawberries is widely used in the manufacture of industrial food, including attractive strawberry fruit juice, jam, ice cream, milk shakes for flavor, color and taste. The first strawberry cultivation began in France in the 5th. Strawberries were first cultivated in Brittany, France, in the 1740th. Later, strawberries spread to different parts of the country, including Chile, Argentina. Fruit strawberries in winter, but now in the areas where the winter is longer, the strawberries are being cultivated. Although many are cultivated in hobby or home-grown tubs or rooftop agriculture, some of the farmers of Kapasia in Gazipur have now started commercially growing strawberries.
Kuriyadi is a village in Kapasiyar’s Singhasree Union on the bank of the Shitalakshya River in Gazipur. Although some farmers of this village cultivate winter crops in the wake of the river on the banks of the river, the land falls at other times of the year. This season, some farmers of the village started strawberry farming, one of them, Tofail Ahmed Bijit, at the suggestion of Delwar Hossain, owner of Maumita Flowers in the nearby Sripur upazila this season.
Tofail Ahmed vidyut that the lands were submerged in rainy season and after the monsoon, the river water came down. The agricultural fields are quite fertile with the polymatid. Success can be very successful if any crop is cultivated in it. He bought one thousand strawberry saplings from Delwar-owned Maumita Flowers, each costing Tk 30. After months of service, the results are now coming. He sells strawberries for Rs. 700 to Rs. 800 per kg. So far he has sold strawberries worth Rs 1.50000 lakh.
Along with him, Abdul Razzaq, the chief of the same area, cultivated strawberries at the river bed. He planted seven thousand strawberries. Also a young man named Humayun Kabir has planted thirteen strawberry seedlings.
