Breast cancer awareness campaign launched in Port City

United Commercial Bank Limited (UCB) organized a breast cancer awareness campaign at a local hotel in Chittagong on Thursday. Mrs. Rukhmila Zaman, Chairman of UCB graced the event as chief guest.
Female employees of UCB in Chittagong who have crossed 40 were the participants of the event since above forty ladies are considered to be vulnerable for breast cancer.
Dr Shahida Alam, FCPS, prof, of Radiation Oncology, National Institute of Cancer Research and Hospital and Dr Jannatun Nisa, Registrar, Radiotherapy Dept. Chittagong Medical College Hospital were present as resource persons who explained the details of breast cancer. Everybody participating at the event shared their views and discussed on the issue.
The event was organized as part of CSR activities of UCB. Chairman of UCB Mrs. Rukhmila Zaman underscored the need for awareness about breast cancer. “There is no prejudice in treatment. We all should raise voice on fighting against the breast cancer.”
2 killed, 4 hurt in road incident: Two persons, including a cancer patient, were killed and four others injured in a road accident in Baro Darogahat area on Dhaka-Chittagong Highway under Sitakunda upazila of the district in the early hours of Thursday.
The deceased were identified as Akkas Mia, 34, an ambulance driver hailed from Patuakhali district, and its passenger Akkas Ali, 65, also a cancer patient of Agrabad area in the port city. Rani Begum, 58, wife of Akkas Ali, son Mohammad Jahid, 28, sister Halima Begum, 46, and driver’s assistant Mohammad Ismail, 22, were also injured.
The injured were shifted to Chittagong Medical College Hospital said.
