Brahmanbaria MP sues Hefazat-men under DSA

Member of Parliament (MP) from Brahmanbaria-3 constituency, R.A.M. Ubaidul Moktadir, filed a case against 19 people including Hefazat-e-Islam’s dissolved central committee Joint Secretary General Sajedur Rahman for allegedly tarnishing his personal image by holding a press conference after the recent violence in Brahmanbaria.
The case was filed on Tuesday under the Digital Security Act (DSA) with the Chattogram Cyber Tribunal.
 Besides 19 named accused and one hundred more unidentified persons were made accused in the case.
MP Ubaidul Moktadir said, “Leaders and activists of Hefazat-e-Islam carried out massive violence in Brahmanbaria for three days from 26 to 28 March. On March 31, they held a press briefing putting all the blame on me to save themselves.”
As journalists were not present in the press briefing they promoted the briefing videos over Facebook-YouTube.
At this, his image was tarnished because of the propaganda, he appeared in person, to file the case with Chattogram Cyber Tribunal, he said.
Judge SKM Tofail Hasan has been requested to direct PBI to investigate the case, the complainant’s lawyer HM Ziauddin said.
