BR signs Tk 224cr deal with Korean firm

The government on Thursday signed a Tk 224 crore agreement with a Korean firm to modernise the signaling system of 11 railway stations from the port city of Chittagong to Chinki Astana in Mirsarai.
Project Director of Bangladesh Railway M Abul Kalam Azad and director of Korean firm LSIS Jong Chan Lee signed the deal at Rail Bhaban on behalf of their respective sides.
The project, aiming to upgrade the traditional signaling system of the 11 railway stations to computerised and multicolour one, is expected to be completed in the next two years.
Of the total project cost, Tk 44 crore will come from the national exchequer while the remaining amount in project assistance.
