BR maintains its schedule facing rush of holidaymakers

Bangladesh Railway (BR), a mode of mass people transport, has been maintaining its time schedule with improved service despite huge rush of the holidaymakers on the eve of holy Eid-ul-Fitr.
The government launched special seven pairs of inter-city special trains from June 22 (Thursday) to June 25 to carry homebound passengers on different routes across the country on the occasion of holy Eid-ul-Fitr, making the journey hassle-free for thousands of homebound holidaymakers, a BR official told BSS here on Saturday.
He said the special trains with huge number of homebound passengers left Kamalapur station for different destinations without any delay today and 171 more coaches have been increased with regular 1,161 coaches in different routes to serve more passengers.
“The government successfully improved the image of the Bangladesh Railway with its sincere and relentless efforts through implementation of various development projects,” the official added.
While visiting Kamalapur Railway Station on Saturday, Railways Minister Muzibul Hoque said tens of millions of people in the capital are returning home on the occasion of the Eid.
He also talked with many homebound passengers there and received information about Bangladesh railway services and its schedules, adding, “To mark the Eid celebration pleasant, the government has undertaken various initiatives.”
The minister said that the government led by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina instructed to ensure smooth and hassle-free journey of holiday makers during the largest Muslim festival Eid-ul-Fitr.
He said as part of modernization of the Bangladesh Railway, his ministry constructed many bridges, set up new tracks, rehabilitate train lines, brought locomotives, coaches and remodeling many stations.
“The government has undertaken and implemented various development projects to improve the BR service desired by the common people for making this popular public transport easier,” Mazibul said.
He wanted to know from the passengers how they feel about the overall management, and that was why he was visiting Kamalapur station prior to the Eid to see in his eyes the quality of services.
The minister said the passengers were satisfied with the departure of the train from Kamalapur railway station on schedule time, adding, “All of our trains have traveled at the right time. I have talked with the train passengers on various routes. They said that they can go to the train at the right time. That is why the passengers expressed satisfaction.”
Earlier, the railway minister talked to the passengers waiting for a train at the Suburban Express in the station.
Muzibul Hoque said, this year the passengers can reach their destinations at the right time. The government led by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina introduced special trains so that passengers can reach home safely.
According to a BR official, special trains have being plying from today to June 25 and June 28 to July 3 on different routes. The BR has taken all necessary preparation for smooth and safe movement of passengers during the Eid-ul-Fitr.
Besides, a pair of new trains named ‘Sonar Bangla’ will be transporting on Dhaka-Chittagong-Dhaka route before the Eid. Bangladesh Railway began advance ticket sale for the homebound passengers June 12 on the occasion of the Eid-ul-Fitr under special arrangement.
