CCC election: Both Mayor aspirants reiterate hopes for clinching victory

Both the Mayor aspirants are taking initiatives of various strategies for winning in the upcoming CCC polls scheduled on April 28 next. These mayor aspirants are trying to bring the voters from locality to polling centres where both AL and BNP backed candidates less votes . For these reasons of getting more votes, AL backed candidate is giving preference in slum and outskirt areas of the city as well enlightened areas and the BNP led candidate is giving importance in prime locations in the city beside the outskirt areas. Both the alliance has already formed centre based election committee in 719 centres in the city.
Mentionable that former Mayor and city AL President ABM Mohiuddin Chowdhury was defeated by the BNP backed nominee M Monzoor Alam by 96 thousand votes in CCC polls of 2010. In comparison of popularity , AL backed candidate A J M Nasir has strong hold in main city areas like Anderkilla, Jamalkhan, Pathergatha than the Manzoor Alam. To gain popularity in the main city areas, BNP and its front organization vigorously holding meetings, rallies including the participation of the Peshajibi Samanaya Parisad in the main through fare of the city. On Saturday, PSP arranged two views exchange meetings at two community halls in favour of the M Monzoor Alam. Among others, Peshijibi Samanaya Parishad leaders including President of Supreme Court Bar Association Khondakar Mahbub Hossain, President of BFUJ Showkat Mahmud, former President Ruhul Amin Gazi , elderly journalist Mahfuzullah, senior BNP leaders and former ministers Abdullah ala Noman, Amir Khasru Chowdhury , Mir Nasiruddin were also present on these occasions. A rally led by Abdullah Noman was also brought out in Reazuddin Bazar area in favour of Manzoor Alam yesterday morning.
On the other hand the ruling party backed AJM Nasir led by former lawmaker Md. Ishaq Miah and Nurul Islam Bsc in different city areas also conducted mass election campaign yesterday.
