Boro harvesting gains momentum in Rangpur

In the ongoing Boro season 2020-21, a crop cutting program was organized under the Eri-Agri project implemented in Sadullapur upazila of Gaibandha district in collaboration with RDRS Bangladesh in collaboration with International Rice Research Institute (IRI).
On Thursday, 4 varieties of paddy were harvested from the land of farmer Swapna Rani of Taluk Haridas village and the type of variety suitable for the area was assessed by cutting the crop. In front of the farmers present at that time, Brie Dhan 28, Brie Dhan 6, Brie Dhan 6, BAU Dhan-3 each variety of paddy was cut and threshed by 10 square meters.
Out of these varieties, brie paddy yields 5.0 tons per 28 hectare, brie paddy 6.0 tons, brie paddy 7.8 tons and BAU paddy-3 6.2 tons. Md. Nazmul Hossain, Deputy Assistant Agriculture Officer, Department of Agricultural Extension, Atar Block was present at the harvesting ceremony; Farmers of the area including Md. Al-Amin, Member of Khordakomarpur Women’s Development Federation, Md. Akbar Hossain, Field Facilitator of RDRS Bangladesh.
