Boro cultivation near completion in Panchagarh

Boro farming is progressing fast in all the five upazilas of the district during the current season amid much enthusiasm as 90 percent lands have already been planted.
Department of Agriculture Extension (DAE) has fixed the target to cultivate Boro paddy on 33,000 hectares of land with the production target of 1,34,7,00 tonnes of rice.
DAE sources said, of the total, 10,000 hectares of land have been brought under the cultivation in Sadar upazila, 8,200 hectares in Debiganj, 5,300 hectares in Boda, 6,000 hectares in Atowary and 3,500 hectares in Tetulia upazila.
Farmers have been cultivated different varieties includes BRRI 28, BRRI 29, BARRI 33, BARRI 45, BARRI 50, Agro-14, Rajkumar, Rupashi Bangla and Jagaroni in their land.
Deputy Director of DAE M Asraf Ali said to make the cultivation a success, necessary measures had been taken to supply fertilizers, insecticides, electricity and other agri inputs to the farmers.
