‘Boost monitoring to minimise farmers’ losses’

Agriculture Minister Dr Muhammad Abdur Razzaque on Tuesday asked the officials concerned to monitor the field activities and supervise it closely after visiting the flood-hit areas as soon as possible to recoup farmers’ losses.
“The affected farmers are passing days in uncertainty during the floods and effective work is needed to minimise losses after the flood water recession,” he said at an online meeting with the staff of the ministry.
Already, the government has formed 14 committees to accelerate the monitoring and cooperating activities including disbursement of fertiliser and seeds. The officials concerned of the ministry will have to work alongside the committee.
The committees have started monitoring the incentive package of the government for keeping up the production of food and minimise the losses of the farmers in 38 flood-hit districts.
Secretary Md Nasiruzzaman will monitor the activities of the committees and while Additional Secretary Md Hasanuzzaman will coordinate them.
Committee members will hold regular online meetings and coordinate incentives distribution programmes in flood-affected districts.
Additional Secretary Md Hasanuzzaman, Additional Secretary (Admin) Arifur Raman Apu, Additional Secretary (Research) Kamalaranjan Das, and officials concerned of the ministry were present at the meeting.
