Ekushey Mela: Book sale to boost, hopes publishers

The publishers expect that the selling of the books at the Boi Mela will increase from the next week.
 “The Dhaka International Trade Fair ended on Tuesday. The Political situation may improve next week. So, we are hopeful at the sale of all kinds of books will increase from the next week,” the publishers said.
A K Nasir Ahmed Selim, Publisher of Kakoli Prokashani, told The New Nation that Amar Ekushey Boi Mela is a unique fair in the world. Thousands of book lovers come here every year’s Mela. The book lovers are in fear this year. But in spite of arson attack and bomb explosion, the number of book lovers is increasing day by day. The Mela will get full momentum from the next month, he said.
Meanwhile, one hundred and twenty five new books arrived and six books were unveiled on Monday, the 10th day of the Amar Ekushey Boi Mela.  
Of the new books, 17 are storybooks, 25 novels, seven essay books, 35 poems, one on research, three children literature, four on biography, three on Liberation War, four on Science, five on travel, three on history, two on religion and 16 on other subjects.
The new books arriving at the Boi Mela on Tuesday were: Amar Wridoyer Pongtimala by Saber Ahmed Chowdhury, Bristi o Bang by Binoy Barman, Misti Bondhu Biral Chhana by Rezina Islam, Banolater Ranna Ghar by Shirin Rahman, Kalpito Kahane by Syed Nurul Huda Rano, Epar o Par by Romana Islam, Manoshik Aboshad o Muktir Upai by Dr Raren Chakrabarti, Ekjon Mayor Padopratthi by Othai Nurul Amin, Bangladesher Dukkha Kotha by Sukumar Ray, Nei by Jafar Talukder, Upomohadesher Ain o Shashoner Etihash by Abdus Salam Mamun, Ekti Bhromoner Bedona by Bhuiyan Shafiqul Islam, Newton Mama o Kalo Bhoot by Ali Sarker, Sottyer Anushondhane by Nantu Barua, Ekti Bhayankar Ratri by Saida Shiuli, Obocheton Onubhuti by Alo Hossain and Nona Poka by Kumar Deb.
A discussion on “Shaheed Syed Nazrul Islamer Nabboitomo Jonmobarsha” was held in the main podium of the Bangla Academy in the afternoon.
Ajoy Ray presided over the function while Professor Syed Anwar Hossain presented the keynote paper.
Dr Md Samad, Professor Md Selim and Professor M Wahiduzzaman discussed the function.
