Three members of police were injured in cocktail explosion in Gulistan area at about 8 pm on Monday, said police source.
Injured persons are – Traffic constable Nazrul Islam, 37, Liton, 40 and community police member Md Ashik, 26. After they were recovered, the policemen were admitted into the Dhaka Medical College Hospital.
Meanwhile, Motijheel Zone Police Additional Deputy-Commissioner (ADC Traffic) Bazlur Rahman told the media people, the injured policemen were performing their duties on the road in front of the Dawn Plaza of Gulistan, when some unknown people threw cocktail on them causing injuries to the victims.
Some aggrieved hawkers are believed to be responsible for this incident. They were evacuated from Gulistan and Motijheel areas few days ago.
Sources said some hawkers are now planning to sit again on the street to resume their business ahead of Ramzan.
