Staff Reporter :
A bomb was blasted in the Arts Faculty Building of the Dhaka University (DU) amid the BNP’s indefinite transport blockade at 11am on Tuesday.
No one was hurt in the explosion and arrested in this connection.
Eyewitnesses said that the blast occurred around noon on Tuesday on an open space between the departments of History and Mass Communication.
The university staff found an unexploded handmade bomb lying near the explosion spot. Dhaka University Acting Proctor Amzad Ali said, ” It appeared that the bombs were thrown from the upper floors. Its object was to destabilise the university.”
There were no classes in that part of the university at that time. On January 13, four improvised bombs were found in a toilet of the Arts Faculty building during the university’s convocation ceremony.
The bombs were found in the toilet of the Political Science department on the first floor of the same building.
