Boi Mela ends today

The month-long Amar Ekushey Boi Mela, which reminded us of our glorious sacrifice for Bengali language, instilling a sense of patriotism throughout the month of February comes to an end today (Monday).
The long queues of the book lovers were seen at every entry points of the Boi Mela on the Bangla Academy premises and the Suhrawardy Udyan yesterday.
The publishers as well as the visitors were in cheerful mood on Sunday. Visiting the Boi Mela, it was witnessed that a large number of book lovers crowded the bookstalls and many of them bought a good number of books.
Hasan Jahangir Sujon, a 3rd year student of DU Islamic Studies department, who bought 15 books as last moment collection,
 said, he always buys books from the Boi Mela for a year. He was accompanied by his friend Habib Ahmed, another DU student.
` I have come to the Boi Mela with my friends from Barisal at the ending moment of Mela, like the last year. I took a Science Fiction titled `Creniel’ of Zafor Iqbal for my younger brother. I bought majority of my favourable books today (Sunday) and rest of others will buy tomorrow (Monday)’, said Mahmudul Hasan Evan, a 3rd year student of Barisal BM college.
The publishers also expressed their satisfaction at the sale position. They said, people are buying a huge number of books everyday for the last few days. They are expecting a huge turn out of readers at the fair today (Monday) and they will sell a huge number of books today than the other days, said publishers.
Mazharul Islam, publisher of Anna Prokash, said on Sunday that the readers were gathering in front of their stall and buying their favourite books. `We have sold a huge number of books than in the last year, as the present political condition is better. Readers come at the fair premises without any problem and they bought their preferred books’, he added.
Rakib Hasan, salesman of Prothoma Prokashoni, said that they are always busy to feed the readers. A large number of readers always swarm in front of their stall. Their selling position is also good. The Bangla Academy has also sold a good number of books. So far books worth tk. 1,53,00,000 have been sold.
Meanwhile, Ninety-two new books arrived at Amar Ekushey Boi Mela on Sunday. Of the new books, 6 are storybooks, 7 novels, 4 essay, 29 poems, 3 Dissertation, 3 Rhyme, 4 Child Literature, 1 Biography, 1 Volume, 5 Liberation War, 2 Drama, 2 Science, 2 History, 3 Health, 2 Translation, 2 Science fiction and 16 books on other subjects.
The new books on Sunday were, Arms and The Man of Rahman M. Mahbub published by GonoProkashoni, 71 Birangona of Harun-or-Rashid published by Tumpa Prokashoni, Amar Bangladesh of Jajabor Mintu published by Palok, Mediar Nana Kotha of Muhammad Jahangir published by Mawola Brathers, Poth Porikroma of A K Azad Khan published by Abishkar and Ekattor of Lutfur Chowdhury published by Shikha Prokashoni, among others book.
A discussion titled `Digital Bangladesh’ was held at 4:00 pm on the Mela premises presided over by Professor Shamsuzzaman Khan. Mostafa Jabbar presented the keynote, while Nahim Razzak, Shamsundor Sikdar, Mahbubul Haque and Tariq Sujat were present as the discussants.
Later, a fascinating cultural function was organised in the Academy.
