Several influential BNP and Jammat leaders are taking part in the upcoming municipals polls in 9 Municipalities in Bogra as mayor and councilor candidates.
They will contest against their competitors from prison if they do not get release before the election. It has been confirmed by their family members and party source.
BNP source said, councilor candidates for the upcoming Bogra Municipality are President of Bangladesh Swechchhasebak Dal and Councilor of No 1 Ward of Bogra Municipality Shah Mehedi Hasan Himu, District Jubo Dal President and No 11 Ward Councilor Shipar Al Bakhtiar, the town Jubo Dal President and No 15 Ward councilor Masud Rana, No 17 Ward councilor BNP leader Golam Mostofa .
Jammat sources said, councilor candidate of No 8 Ward Jammat leader Ersadul Bari and Mayor Candidate for Kahalu Municipality Jammat leader Jahurul Islam Badsha also are in prison.
The family members of the prisoner’s candidates were collecting and submitting their nomination papers from the returning officers. There are several cases of sabotage against the candidates.
