Body of missing Imam recovered

The dead body of Mawlana Zahidul Islam (35), Imam of a mosque at Mongla town who was missing following the sinking of a ferry trawler at Mongla Sea Port under Mongla Upazila in Bagerhat district was recovered on Saturday, according to a delayed report received here.
Police said that on Monday mid night the accident took place in the Mongla river at Mamar ferry ghat area. All the passengers of the ferry trawler swam to the shore excepting Imam Mawlana Zahidul Islam. At that time 2 passengers were injured. The cargo named Rupsa Auto Rice Mill that dashed the ferry trawler was seized by the police.
Md. Ruhul Amin Prince,Upazila Nirbahi Officer of Mongla told the newsmen, all the passengers were able to swim to the shore. But unfortunately Mawlana Zahidul Islam, Imam of Munshipara Jame Mosque of Mongla town was missing in the river. On Saturday in the morning some locals of Burirdanga found the dead body floating in a canal and informed of the police of the matter. Police rushed to the spot and recovered the dead body. Later, the members the deceased identified the dead body.
