Body of a mysteriously died minor aged school girl recovered from the garden near her home on Tuesday in Sapania area under Kawnia police station of the city.
The victim was identified as Sabiha Akhtar Athoi, 8, daughter of Kazi Golam Mustafa of Kagashura and student of class three of Sapania government primary school of the area.
Dr Mahbubur Rahman, emergency medical officer at Barishal Sher E Bangla Medical College Hospital, said Athoi was brought to the hospital at noon as dead.
There was sign of strangling on her neck and froth was come out from her mouth. Dead body sent to morgue for autopsy, the doctor added.
Israt Jahan, maternal aunt of Athoi, said Athoi left home for school with her father Mustafa, who was a staff of water supply section of Barishal City Corporation, and left on school gate on Tuesday morning.
She went school to submit her photo for getting scholarship. Kazi Golam Mustafa, father of Athoi, said over mobile phone when he asked Sheuli Akhtar Ruma, mother of Athoi, whether Athoi returned home or not, then family members searching the area recovered her senseless body from the lemon garden near their house and brought to hospital.
Sub Inspector Tanjil Ahmed, second officer of Kawnia police station, said receiving the information police visited the dead body recovery spot and hospital. After receiving postmortem report cause of death could be ascertained and action would be taken.
