Body of girl missing in speedboat accident recovered

Dead body of Sidratul Muntaha alias Shayeri Akther (13), a minor aged girl and daughter of Dr. Golam Sarwar Jahan, a teacher of Dhaka Medical College, recovered from Arialkha River near Bishwersherhut on Sunday morning.
Mahbub Alam, officer in charge of Barisal Bandar Police, acknowledging the fact said the recovered dead body sent to Barisal Sher E Bangla Medical College Hospital (SBMCH) on Sunday noon.
Earlier body of Nespati Begum (35), wife of Dr. Golam Sarwar Jahan, recovered dead and injured eight others were recovered alive from river after passenger carrying two speedboats collided on Friday night.
Sub Inspector Mizanur Rahman as complainant lodged a case with Bandar police station in this connection against 7 accused including crews of both speed boats and speed boat owners association leaders of Barisal and Bhola on Saturday noon.
After the case police arrested Kamal Sharif and Wahidul Islam, president and secretary of the Barisal speedboat owners association and continued drives to arrest others, the OC of Bandar PS told.
Abdur Rouf Khan, deputy commissioner of Barisal Metropolitan Police (BMP), said police will also take action against illegally plying speedboat at night.
Azmal Huda, deputy director (river safety and traffic), BIWTA Barisal office said they served notices several times to stop illegal plying of speedboats.
At least 5 hundred passengers traveling on speedboats from Barisal River Port to different destinations of Barisal division every day.
