Staff Reporter :Police recovered the decomposed body of an advertisement official of a Bengali daily from a suitcase at Khilkhet in the city on Friday who went missing three days ago.The victim identified as Zahangir Alam, 38, was assistant manager of advertisement department of Daily Banik Barta. Police recovered the suitcase with deadbody from a bachelor mess at Namapara in the city’s Khilkhet area.Police sent the body to morgue for autopsy.Officer-in Charge of Khilkhet Police Station Shahidul Hoque said: “Zahangir Alam went missing from his rented house at Tejkuni Para under Tejgaon Police Station about three days ago (September 15). His family members lodged a general diary with the concerned police station in this regard.””Police at one stage of investigation arrested Zahangir’s cousin brother Faisal from Dhamrai. Later, based on his confessional statement police recovered the body of Zahangir from Khilkhet,” he said.The OC said, “Miscreants hide the body of Zahangir in a big suitcase after strangulating him to death.” A reporter of Banik Barta said: “Zahangir came out of his house at about 12:00 pm on September 15. On that night wife of Zahangir ringed to the office and said that the cell phone of her husband was switched off.”Zahangir left Prothom Alo job last month and joined Banik Barta, sources said.
