Hanging dead bodies of mother and lying dead body of her infant daughter were recovered from their house at Mehendiganj town in Barishal on Thursday.
The deceased were identified as Salma Begum, 25, and her daughter Tasrin, 2, in Badarpur area of Ward 7 of the municipal town in Barishal district.
Mehendiganj Police Officer-in-Charge Mohammad Abidur Rahman said Salma Akter married Amzad Hossain eight years ago. Amzad was a wood log businessman.
Both were engaged in altercation on Wednesday (December 2nd) night over family issues. We are suspecting that housewife Salma may commit suicide after strangling the child to death, the OC said.
After receiving the news around 7 am on Thursday, Mehendiganj police rushed to the spot and recovered the hanging and lying dead bodies.
No arrests have been made so far in the incident, but police are working to unravel the mystery of death.
The OC also added that the dead bodies would be sent to Barishal Sher-e-Bangla Medical College Hospital for autopsy after lodging a case of unnatural deaths.
