A leader of Islami Chhatra Shibir, the student wing of Jamaat-e-Islami, of Rajshahi University unit was shot dead and two others were injured when police opened fire on them in Rajshahi in the small hours of Friday.
In another incident, an activist of Jamaat-e-Islami was killed in a gunfight with police at Ramnagar in Jessore Sadar upazila early yesterday.
Besides, the bullet riddled body of Chauddagram upazila Shibir President was found at Comilla Medical College Hospital morgue yesterday morning.
Apart from it, a local leader of Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal [JCD] sustained bullet injures in a gunfight with police at Kazirhat Thakurbari in Kalaroa upazila in Satkhira early yesterday.

Islami Chhatra Shibir of Rajshahi University unit was shot dead and two others were injured when police opened fire on them after they hurled bombs at a police vehicle in Rajshahi.
Two other leaders of the same unit were also received serious bullet injuries in the same incident that took place at Katakhali Municipality’s Shamsadipur around 9:00pm on Thursday, said Motihar Police Station OC Alamgir Hossain. The dead was identified as Shahab Uddin, 24, of Natore. He was a student of Department of Crop Science and Technology, and Information Affairs Secretary of Shibir’s RU unit.
The injured were identified as Shibir’s Habibur Rahman Hall unit President Habibur Rahman and Binodpur Mess unit President Mofizur Rahman. They were admitted to Rajshahi Medical College and Hospital (RMCH).
The trio had tried to run away after hurling handmade bombs at a police patrol vehicle on Thursday night. All of them received bullet wounds when police opened fire. Shahab Uddin died on the spot. A police constable was also injured in the bomb attack. He was also admitted at the RMCH.
In another incident, an activist of Jamaat-e-Islami was killed in a gunfight with police at Ramnagar in Sadar upazila early yesterday, our Jessore Correspondent reports.
The deceased was identified as Shahidul Islam, 35, son of Nur Ali, of Satkhira district.
Enamul Haque, Officer-in-Charge of Kotwali Police Station, said they challenged a microbus carrying a gang of criminals in the area around 2:15am. Police gave signal to the microbus. Defying the police signal, the criminals opened fire at the policemen. The law enforcers also fired back, triggering a gunfight.
“Shahidul was caught in the line of fire and died on the spot,” said the OC. However, the other associates of Shahidul managed to flee the scene.
Police recovered the body and sent it to Jessore Medical College Hospital morgue.
Meanwhile, the bullet riddled body of Chauddagram upazila Shibir President was found at Comilla Medical College Hospital morgue yesterday morning, adds our Comilla correspondent.
The victim was identified as Sahab Patwari, 25. Shahab’s mother Sakina Begum said members of police picked him up from his Chandishkora house around 5:10pm on Thursday.
Police sources said the deceased was allegedly involved in arson attack on a bus at Chouddagram in Comilla recently which claimed at least 8 lives and several others injured.
In Satkhira, a local leader of Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD) sustained bullet injures in a gunfight between his cohorts and police at Kazirhat Thakurbari in Kalaroa upaizla early yesterday.
 The victim was identified as Abdul Mazid, 30, president of Kalaroa municipality unit of JCD. He was an accused in a case filed for attack on convoy of the then opposition leader Sheikh Hasina in Kalaroa on August 30, 2002.
Assistant Superintendent of Satkhira Sadar Circle Police, Anwar Syed, said, “The police, sensing sabotage, challenged a group of criminals in the area around 1.00am. At one stage, the criminals opened fire at the law enforcers, prompting them to retaliate, triggering a gunfight. Abdul Majid sustained bullet injuries on the left knee.”
“Police arrested him while the others managed to flee. He was rushed to sadar hospital. Later, police recovered one shutter gun and five rounds of bullet from the spot,” he said.
On August 30 in 2002, Sheikh Hasina, the then opposition leader, had gone to the district to visit a raped housewife. On the way, the miscreants allegedly attacked her convoy on the instruction of the then lawmaker Habibul Islam Habib in Kalaroa, the police said.
The attackers fired gunshots to kill Hasina but she survived the assassination attempt while others accompanying her sustained injuries. Moslem Uddin, the then general secretary of Kalaroa upazila unit Awami League, filed a case in this connection.
Abdul Majid was an FIR accused in the case. He had long been on the run after the incident. He was wanted in several criminal cases, according to the police.
