The fifth phase of Union Parishad (UP) elections was held in 11 UPs in Gurudaspur and Naldanga Upazila of Natore on Wednesday. In this election Awami League nominees 4, BNP 2 and rebel 5 candidates have been elected unofficially.
In Gurudaspur, Awami League nominees 2 and rebel 4 candidates have been elected unofficially. The 4 candidates who are defeated, 3 are in the third place and 1 is in the second place according toget votes.
Gurudaspur Upazila Returning Officer Ferdous Alam announced the election results around 9 pm on Wednesday. In Nazirpur Union of the upazila, rebel candidate Ayub Ali Pk (motorcycle) won with 9340 votes. His nearest rival Shawkat Rana Labu (spectacles) got 6192 votes. Rebel candidate Mizanur Rahman Suja (motorcycle) has won in Biyaghat Union with 5744 votes. Nearest rival Abu Yunus Ali (pineapple) got 3441 votes. Awami League candidate Monirul Islam Dolan (boat) won at the Khubjipur Union Parishad with 574 votes. Nearest rival Azgar Hossain Master (horse) got 5517 votes. Rebel candidate Mohammad Abdul Bari (horse) has won at the Mashinda Union by getting 10647 votes. Nearest Mostafizur Rahman (boat) got 9069 votes. Awami League candidate Abdul Matin (boat) won at the Dharabarisha Union with 11244 votes. His nearest rival Hajeda Begum (horse) got 6347 votes. In Chapila Unio rebel candidate Mahabubur Rahman (motorcycle) won with 635 votes. His nearest rival Yaqub Ali (horse) got 3975 votes.
Naldanga Upazila Returning Officer Abdus Salam announced the election results around 8pm on Wednesday. According to the election results of 5 unions of the upazila boat 2, BNP 2 and rebel candidate 1 have won.
Brahmapur Union, BNP’s SM Ashrafuzzaman Mithu (pineapple) won with 6,334 votes. His nearest rival Raichuddin got 4,400 votes. In Madhanagar Union rebel candidate Abdul Jabbar Mridha (horse) won with 5,959 votes. Nearest rival Amjad Hossain Dewan got 4,173 votes. In Khajura Union Sohrab Hossain (boat) won with 6,173 votes. Nearest rival Zahurul Islam got 5,975 votes. In Piprul Union, Kalim Uddin (boat) won with 5,355 votes. Nearest rival Mohammad Ali got 5,304 votes. In Bipra Belgharia Union, BNP’s Shahjahan Ali (Chashma) won with 6,018 votes while his nearest rival Touhidur Rahman Liton got 5,619 votes.
