BOA chief hands over cash reward to medalists of 4th Islamic Games

President of Bangladesh Olympic Association (BOA) General Abu Belal Muhammad Shafiul Huq, who is also the Chief of Bangladesh Army, handed over the pre-announced cash rewards to the medal-winning Bangladeshi athletes of the 4th Islamic Solidarity Games held in Baku, Azerbaijan last May.
The BOA chief distributed the cash rewards to the Islamic Games’ medal-winning Bangladeshi athletes-shooters Abdullah Hel Baki, Syeda Atkia Hasan and Rabbi Hasan Munna and wrestler Shrin Sultana-at a function at the Kurmitola Golf Club, Dhaka Cantonment Saturday afternoon.
Among the four medal winning athletes, Abdullah Hel Baki was not present at the function and shooting coach Golam Shafiuddin Khan received the cheque on his behalf.
During the ceremony, the BOA chief congratulated the athletes for their feats in international arena and asked them to do their best for better performances in future.
Ace shooters Abdullah Hel Baki and Syeda Atkia Hasan won the gold medal in mixed team event of the 10-meter Air Rifles and split the reward of Tk 4 lakh (2 lakh each).
Another shooter Rabbi Hasan Munna, who earned a silver medal in the men’s 10-meter Air Rifles (individual), received a prize money of TK two lakh while wrestler Shrin Sultana, who managed a bronze medal in the women’s 69 kgs weight category, received a prize money of Tk one lakh.
After receiving the prize money, three medal winners appreciated the BOA initiatives and said it will definitely help and inspired them to do better result in the coming days.
BOA secretary general Syed Shahed Reza, Vice Presidents Sheikh Bashir Ahmed (Mamun) Mahbub Ara Begun Gini MP, Anjan Chowdhury Pintu, Deputy Secretary General Ashiqur Rahman Miku and Asaduzzaman Kohinoor were also present at the function.
Earlier, the BOA boss also attended the steering committee meeting of Bangladesh Youth Games and executive committee of Bangladesh Olympic Association Saturday morning.
Divisional phase of the Bangladesh Youth Games will begin on January 6 at the divisional headquarters of the country.
