Bangladesh Olympic Association, Bangladesh Football Federation, Bangladesh Sports Journalists Association, and Dhaka Abahani Ltd in separate messages condoled the death of Amalesh Sen, footballer-turned-coach and member of the Swadhin Bangla football team who passed away yesterday after suffering a severe cardiac arrest at Abahani Club premises in the city.
In a condolence messages they are prayed for the salvation of the deceased and paid rich tribute to the freedom fighter Amalesh for his contribution to football in Bangladesh.
The veteran footballer, who had been working as a coach of the Abahani team for a long time, complained of chest pain and unease towards the end of the team’s training session at the club premises.
He was rushed to the nearby Bangladesh Medical College and Hospital where doctors pronounced him dead at around 6:30pm.
He was 72. Amalesh left behind his wife, two sons and a host of well-wishers to mourn his death.
