Rio Olympics: BOA, Army chief give warm send-off to Bangladesh contingent

President of Bangladesh Olympic Association (BOA) and Chief of Bangladesh Army General Abu Belal Muhammad Shafiul Huq gave Rio-bound Bangladesh contingent a warm send-off on Saturday.
They met up the Bangladeshi participants of the 31st Olympic Games at Kurmitola Golf Club in the afternoon and posed for a photo shoot.
This year, the biggest sports carnival of the earth is set to be held in Rio de Janeiro of Brazil from August 5-21.
BOA Secretary General Syed Shaheed Reza, Chef de Mission of Bangladesh contingent and Lt Gen (Retd) Abu Tayub Mohammd Zahirul Alam and BOA Director General Fakruddin Haider were also present at the occasion along with general secretaries of respective sports federations.
A seven-member contingent–one golfer, one shooter, one archer, two athletes and two swimmers–will represent Bangladesh in the biggest show in Brazil.
Two Bangladeshi athletes -Mesbah and Shirin-were included in the Olympic Games bound Bangladesh contingent in the last moment after they got wild card last Monday from the organising committee. Both Mesbah and Shirin will compete in 100-meter sprint.
Celebrated golfer Siddikur Rahman, who earlier ensured direct entry to the event as the first Bangladeshi, will carry the national flag of Bangladesh in the mega Games.
