BNP’s Independence Day programme

BNP on Saturday chalked out a three-day programme, including holding a discussion and taking out a rally, to celebrate the Independence Day. BNP secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir announced the
programmes at a press conference at the party’s Nayapaltan central office after a joint meeting of the party and its associate bodies.
As part of the programmes, BNP standing committee members and its senior leaders, on behalf of party chairperson Khaleda Zia, will pay tributes to the martyrs of the Liberation War by placing wreathes at the National Mausoleum, Savar at 9am on March 26.
Later, they will place wreaths at the mazar of late BNP founder Ziaur Rahman at Sher-e-Banglanagar in the capital at 11am to mark the day. Besides, the party will hoist national and party flags atop its all offices, including the central one, in the morning. The party offices will also be illuminated.
BNP will also publish supplements and arrange essay competitions among students to celebrate the day.
Jatiyatabadi Samajik and Sangskritik Sangstha (Jasas), the cultural wing of BNP, will arrange a cultural event in the evening on the occasion. Besides, BNP will bring out an Independence Day rally from its central office on March 27. It will also organise a discussion at the Institution of Engineers, Bangladesh in the capital on March 31 on the occasion. BNP standing committee members Khandaker Mosharraf Hossain, Moudud Ahmed, Mirza Abbas, Dr Abdul Moyeen Khan, Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury, vice chairmen Abdullah Al Noman, Hafizuddin Ahmed, Barkatullah Bulu, Mohammad Shahjahan, Abdul Awal Mintoo, AZM Zahid Hossain, and party senior joint secretary general Ruhul Kabir Rizvi and other leaders of the party and its associate bodies took part in the joint meeting to be held with Fakhrul in the chair.
