BNP’s founding anniv today

BNP will celebrate its 41st founding anniversary today (Sunday) designing colourful programmes across the country.
BNP and its front organizations will hold lot of programmes including discussions and rallies to mark the day. BNP’s discussion venue is the Institution of Engineers, Bangladesh.
The leaders and the activists will hoist the National and the party flags and release pigeons as the symbol of the peace at BNP’s Nayapaltan Central office and all other offices across the country at 6:00am. Ex. President of the republic Ziaur Rahman established the party with a 19-point programme to build a self-reliant Bangladesh.
Besides, the party leaders and the activists will place wreaths and offer munajat (special prayers) at the grave of Ziaur Rahman in the city’s Sher-e-Banglanagar at 10am.
BNP acting Chairman Tarique Rahman and Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir in separate messages greeted party leaders, activists, followers and people from all walks of life on the occasion.
In its 38 years’ journey, BNP had been in power for four times and in opposition bench twice.
The party has been out of power for over 12 years since an Army backed caretaker government was formed in 2007.
