The website of BNP has been blocked to the viewers as it does not substantiate party chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia’s claim that Ziaur Rahman was the first president of the country.
The BNP website showed Zia as the seventh president of Bangladesh, which contradicts Begum Zia’s claim. BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia and her elder son Tarique Rahman, senior Vice chairman of BNP made statements claiming Zia as the first president of the country.
Ziaur Rahman, sector commander of the Liberation War, was the seventh president of Bangladesh, Banglapedia says. He later formed the BNP in 1978.
