BSS, Dhaka :
Awami League Presidium Member and Health and Family Welfare Minister Mohammed Nasim on Friday called upon BNP to take preparation for the next general election to be held in 2019.
“Narayanganj City Corporation election was held in a free, fair and neutral manner. Take a lesson from the polls and be prepared for the next general election,” he told a grand-rally of health assistants at Institution of Diploma Engineers auditorium in the city.
Bangladesh Health Assistant Association-Dhaka Division arranged the rally with its president Md Abul Waresh in the chair.
Public Administration Ministry joint general secretary Mahmud Hasan, Bangladesh Health Assistant Association president Abdullah Al Ansari and general secretary Enayet Rabbi Litan addressed the function, among others.
Nasim said after a long period, a direct battle between ‘Boat’ and ‘Ship of paddy’ took place. Awami League got another victory in the month of victory as its candidate Selina Hayat Ivy was reelected in the NCC polls.
The people of Narayanganj, he said, has exercised their right to franchise for Awami League’s election symbol ‘Boat’ because of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s bold decision.
He said Awami League nominated candidate Ivy was a very popular and people oriented leader so the people cast their votes in favour of Ivy.
“BNP failed as they carried out sabotage and subversive activities across the country and killed innocent people by hurling petrol bombs in buses and trucks. People gave their verdict against the anarchy,” Nasim said.
He said BNP did not sever ties with Jamaat even in the month of victory. In December 1971 Pakistani occupied forces and their local collaborators surrendered to Bangalees, Nasim said.
