BNP urged to come to path of politics of consensus

Awami League Advisory Council Member Suranjit Sengupta on Friday said the politics of consensus would go one step forward, if the BNP extends cooperation to observe the death anniversary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman collectively by not observing Begum Khaleda Zia’s birth anniversary on the day.
“We will go one step forward in the journey of democracy, if Khaleda Zia helps in observing Bangabandhu’s death anniversary collectively by not observing her false birthday on August 15,” he said speaking at a discussion organized by Nouka Samarthak Goshthi at Institute of Diploma Engineers auditorium in the city.
Presided over by Nouka Samarthak Goshthi President Emdadul Haq, the discussion was also addressed by city Awami League vice-president Fayez Uddin Mian and Secretary General Humayun Kabir Miji. Referring to AL General Secretary Syed Ashraful Islam’s call for observing Bangabandhu’s death anniversary collectively, Suranjit Sengupta urged the BNP to shun politics of conflicts and confusions to keep the trend of democracy and development continuing in the country. He stressed the need for finding out a basis of consensus to uphold the spirit of Liberation War and independence.
