Awami League Joint General Secretary Mahbub-ul Alam Hanif asked BNP to take a lesson from the US president election and urged the party not to seek support from foreigners but to try for increasing public engagement instead.
“You should not seek support from foreigners rather you should increase your public engagement for going to power. Those who wait for foreign maters support, they won’t get anything expecting frustration,” he said this on Thursday while speaking at a press conference at the Awami League (AL) president’s political office at Dhanmondi.
Hanif said BNP became isolated from the people because of its wrong strategy in politics.
“The US election has proved that people are the source of power. They elected their leader though exercising their rights of franchise,” he added.
Congratulating the newly elected US President Donald J Trump on behalf of Awami League, the Joint General Secretary of the party said Awami League always believes in power of people and respectful to the peoples’ verdict and that is why “We congratulate US President Donald Trump who has been elected by the people”.
Hanif hoped the new US president would play an important role in strengthening further the friendly relations between Bangladesh and the United States.
“The United States is our big development partner. Donald Trump would further enhance his cooperation,” the AL leader hoped.
