BNP gets verbal permission to organise its rally at Suhrawardy Udyan in the capital on November 12 to mark November 7 as ‘National Revolution and Solidarity Day’.
“We get verbal permission to hold our programme at Suhrawardy Udyan on November 12 from the administration. We will organise the scheduled rally with the cooperation of every quarters,” Ruhul Kabir Rizvi, the Senior Joint- Secretary General of BNP told
The New Nation on Wednesday afternoon. The BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia would address the rally.
Senior BNP leaders visited the spot at the Suhrawardy Udyan after getting the verbal permission.
BNP Joint-Secretary General and Dhaka South City Unit President Habib-Un-Nabi Khan Sohel, Publicity Secretary Shahid Uddin Chowdhury Anny, central and city unit leaders ABM Mosharraf Hossain and Kazi Abul Bashar among others were present.
Earlier, the Party Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir sought all-out cooperation of the govt for holding the rally.
“The ruling party always claimed that they believed in democracy. So, we hope that they will extend all-out cooperation for holding our rally at Suhrawardy Udyan,” Mirza Fakhrul said while addressing a Press briefing at the party’s Naya Paltan office after holding a joint preparatory meeting to make the rally a success.
Senior leaders along with president and secretaries of BNP, presidents and general secretaries of its front and associate organisations, among others, attended the meeting was presided over by Mirza Fakhrul.
Earlier, the party had set November 8 for holding the rally in the same venue, later it shifted it to November 11 considering the eight-day 63rd Commonwealth Parliamentary Conference in Dhaka city from November 1.
Finally, BNP revised the date of the rally for November 12.
BNP was denied permission for holding rally at Suhrawardy Udyan in observance of November 7 last year.
At the day’s briefing, Mirza Fakhrul said that they want to hold the rally in a peaceful and disciplined manner.
