Staff Reporter :
The BNP has changed the date of holding its rally from Saturday to Sunday as the police did not give them the needed permission.
“Two of our party leaders met the Dhaka Metropolitan Police today (Thursday). They suggested us to submit a written application stating that the rally will now be held on Sunday instead of Saturday. We have submitted a new application seeking permission to organize the public meeting at the capital’s Suhrawardy Udyan on Sunday,” said Assistant Organizing Secretary Abdus Salam Azad.
The planned date of the rally was September 27.
On the other hand, the ruling Awami League-led 14 party alliance also arranged a programme on Saturday in the city’s Mohanagar Natya Moncha.
BNP central leader Shahid Uddin Chowdhury Annie and Abdus Salam Azad on Thursday met the DMP Commissioner to discuss the situation and to obtain clearance for the new date.
