The BNP has suspended today’s rally scheduled for holding in the Suhrawardy Uddyan as DMP has not accorded permission yet.
“We have not got permission to hold the rally in the city and that is why we have suspended our long awaited programme,” said BNP’s Senior Joint-Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi while addressing a press briefing in its Nayapaltan office.
Rizvi said, “We wanted to believe that the government will accord us permission to hold the rally after a high profile delegation of the BNP met the Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal on Tuesday.”
“The home minister on the day told a group of journalists that the police would give permission for BNP’s rally after getting agencies reports. The home minister proved that the state had become totally a police controlled country,” Rizvi said.
He said that the government also proved that the state had really become an autocratic state in the world.
Rizvi said the government is suffering from the phobia of public gathering; so it was not ‘allowing’ the party to hold rally.
