BNP led panel sweeps CBA election

BNP- led panel clinched victory in the Chittagong District Lawyers Association election and the President was elected from Awami- led panel.
Advocate Iftekhar Saimul Chowdhuyr elected President and the pro-BNP candidate Nazimuddin won in the Secretary post.
Out of 19 executive posts, BNP led panel bags 12 posts and the remaining 7 posts.
The election of the Chittagong District Bar Association (CDBA), the country’s second largest professional body of the pleaders, was held on Sunday.
Four panels – Awami League backed Sammilito Ainjibi Samannay Paris-had, BNP and four party alliance backed Ainjibi Oikya Parishad, Left-parties backed Samamana Ainjibi Sangsad and Gonotantrik Ainjibi Parisad are vying for the different posts of the executive committee this year.
CDBA sources said a total of 53 candidates are vying for the posts of 19 office-bearers including 10 executive committee members.
A total of 3,715 voters will exercise their right to vote in the election. The election was held from 8am to 5 pm without any break.
