Ekram murder: BNP leader Minar files fresh plea for bail

The prime suspect in the killing case of Fulgazi Upazila Chairman Ekramul Haque in Feni, BNP leader Mahtab Uddin Ahmed Chowdhury Minar, filed an appeal
petition freshly with the High Court Division on Sunday.
A HC bench comprising Justice Md Abu Jafor Siddique and Justice Khijir Ahmed Chowdhury may hear the appeal petition, said Deputy Attorney General AKM Jahid Sarwar.
Earlier, the Appellate Division of the Supreme Court cancelled a HC order that granted bail to Minar Chowdhury for submitting fictitious report on health.
Ekramul Haque, President of Fulgazi Upazila unit of Awami League was killed by some miscreants while he was returning home in his microbus. The miscreants set fire to the bus after shooting him from a very close range on May 20, 2014.
Ekram’s brother, Rezaul Haque Jasim, filed a case against Minar Chowdhury and 35 other unidentified people with Feni Model Police Station the next day.
Police arrested Minar in Dhaka on May 27, 2014 and sent him to Feni jail after interrogating him on June 4.
