The High Court on Thursday granted six-month bail to BNP leader Azizul Bari Helal in three cases filed during the BNP-led alliance’s anti-government movement in 2015.
An HC bench of Justice Muhammad Abdul Hafiz and Justice Md Suhrawardi passed the order. Lawyer Masud Rana, who stood for Helal, said the High Court granted him six-month bail in three cases filed with Ramna, Motijheel and Paltan police stations on charge of vandalising vehicles and setting fire to those. Now, there is no bar to Helal’s release from jail, he said. Earlier on January 31, detectives arrested Helal, also former Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD) president, and four other BNP activists from Moghbazar area in connection with attack on police and snatching two fellow activists from law enforcers in the capital.
