Abhaynagar police on Friday evening arrested Jakir Hossain, Organizing Secretary, Nawapara Municipality Unit of Bangladesh Nationalist Party and councilor of ward number 3 of the municipality, Sheikh Nasir Uddin, officer in-charge, Abhaynagar police station told New Nation.
The OC told that Jakir Hossain is an accused in 9 cases. ‘He was picked up from his own ward Dhopadi under the municipality as he was attending a janaja prayer,’ locals said.
The BNP demanded immediate release of the leader.
