UNB, Dhaka :
Wondering that hartal and blockade programmes are these days called from undisclosed locations, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Thursday said the BNP-Jamaat clique has indulged in a dirty game to fully destroy the country, and sought the cooperation of all in stopping this criminalisation.
“When we’re moving the country ahead, evil efforts are there to push the country towards destruction, and this can never be tolerated,” she said.
The Prime Minister said this after handing over the Ekushey Padak-2015 at a function at city’s Osmani Memorial Auditorium to the country’s 15 eminent personalities in recognition of their glorious contributions to their respective fields.
Apparently pointing at the BNP chairperson, Hasina asserted that it cannot be tolerated that the country’s people will pay the price or be killed for someone’s political wrong decision or someone’s personal failure.
Sharply criticising the BNP-Jamaat for burning people to deaths in the name of hartal and blockade programmes, the Prime Minister said when people are getting all kinds of services and dreaming of a better, and the country is moving ahead in all the fields, their dreams are being shattered and burned all of a sudden.
“What kind of politics it is to burn people to death? This is not politics…I can’t understand what kind of movement is this?” she added.
“Announcements (of hartal and blockade) these days come from secret places, and people are being killed through hurling petrol bombs or people are being burned to death. They (BNP-Jamaat) have indulged in a dirty game to completely destroying the country,” she said.
Mentioning that Bangladesh is not now lagging behind in any field, including sports and games, culture and education, she questioned, “Then why such destructive acts are being unleashed?”
She said, Bangladesh is now regarded as a role model of development in the whole world and also is among the first five growing countries of the world.
Hasina said, there are some people who often try to put her and the BNP chairperson in the same scale. “Why is such injustice? One has been killing people while another is serving people and making unrelenting efforts to improve their lifestyle.”
Continuing her attack on the BNP-Jamaat ally for pushing the lives of the students especially the SSC examinees into uncertainty through calling hartals on the every working day during the exams, the Prime Minister said it seems that they have called the hartals against the students and examinees.
“They (BNP-led 20-party) have gained nothing through obstructing the path of academic life of the students except killing innocent people,” the Prime Minister noted.
