BSS, Dhaka :
Awami League’s Joint General Secretary Mahbub-ul Alam Hanif on Friday said the BNP-Jamaat alliance has preferred the way of secret killing to tarnish the image of the government and to create panic among the people of the country.
“BNP leader Begum Zia’s hypocrisy and statement supporting militants at Iftar Mahfils usually proved that they are involved in all secret killings and sabotages”, he said.
Hanif told this to the Journalists following visit to Ramkrishna Mission Bhaban in the capital this morning. He met with Ramkrishna Math and Mission Principal Swami Drubeshananda there, Local Awami League, Jubo League and Chatra League leaders and activists including Agriculture and Cooperatives Affairs Secretary of Awami League Dr Abdur Razzaque, Local Lawmaker Quazi Feroz Rashid and AL Dhaka City South General Secretary Shah-e Alam Murad, were present. Hanif said government has taken tough security measures after the death threat was given to Ramkrishna Mission priest. He said it is the responsibility of the government to ensure security of all. The government will do everything required so that none could spoil the communal harmony in the country, he said.
Begum Zia as a former prime minister should have shown responsible attitude, but she did not do that, Hanif said in reply to a query. Even her hypocrisy and statement supporting the militants have made it clear who are behind the recent sabotage and secret killings, he added. Later, the priest of the Ramkrishna Mission told the Journalists “We are grateful to the government as it has taken strict security measures for the Mission.” All activities of the temple are running peacefully, said the priest.
On June 15, a letter with death threat was sent to the principal of the Ramkrishna Mission. A general diary was filed with Wari Police station immediately after the threat. Leaders from different political parties including central 14-party alliance have visited the Ramkrishna Mission temple.
