The BNP on Tuesday expressed its optimism about getting permission for holding a rally on November 7 on the occasion of `National Revolution and Solidarity Day’.
“We hope that the government will accord us permission to hold a rally at the Suhrawardy Udyan on November 7, as part of observing the`National Revolution and Solidarity Day’,” said Ruhul Kabir Rizvi, Senior Joint-General Secretary of the BNP. He said it while addressing a press briefing in the party’s Nayapaltan office.
Criticizing ruling Awami Legue Joint-General Secretary Mahbubul Alam Hanif’s remark that the BNP would not be allowed to hold November 7 rally, Ruhul Kabir Rizvi said, we want to believe that does not represent the government’s stance.
Rizvi said, “It may be Mahbubul Alam Hanif’s personal view, not of the government’s decision. The administration does not permit illegal gatherings only. Hanif always says, ‘we will resist’, ‘not be allowed to stage’.
The BNP leader also claimed that the AL got new life after the November 7 revolution. Rizvi said that the rally will take place at the scheduled time. BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia will be the chief guest. The rally will be the biggest ever public gathering of the recent times.
The BNP leader also condemned the facebook post degrading the Holy Kaaba at Brahmanbaria and demanding punishment to the guilty. BNP leader Khairul Kabir Khokon, Abdus Salam Azad, Taiful Islam Tipu and Munir Hossain, among others, were present.
