UNB, Chittagong :
BNP secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir on Sunday alleged that the ruling party’s ‘identified cadres’ attacked their convoy in Feni as part of their pre-mediated plan.
“The terrorists who attacked our Chairperson’s convoy, their names and photographs have been published in newspapers. It’s now clear that Chhatra League and Awami League cadres made the attack,” he said.
Fakhrul came up with the remark while visiting journalists, who were injured in the attack, at a hotel in the port city. He voiced anger over the attack on the journalists saying it is unexpected that the reporters who had no link with politics came under attack.
The BNP leader demanded the government arrest the attackers immediately and mete out punishment to them. Sought his comment on Awami League allegation that the attack was an outcome of BNP’s internal feud, Fakhrul said denying the fact is a crime and Awami League should expel its activists instead of defending them.
He said the ruling party is pampering criminals and letting them loose to commit such offences by defending them. “Awami League is trying to shift the blame onto BNP for the attack denying the involvement of its cadres in the incident,” said the BNP leader.
He deplored that the attack was made on their chairperson’s convoy even after the assurance by the Inspector General of Police that all-out security measures will be ensured during Khaleda’s visit.
Earlier on Saturday, the convoy of BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia, heading towards Cox’s Bazar, came under attack at Mohammad Ali Bazar near Feni district town
