The BNP-led 20-party alliance is firm to continue the ongoing movement until its key demand for fresh polls under a non-party government system is met.
On the other hand, the government is not paying any heed to the demand.
The BNP on Saturday again said that the ongoing blockade will continue, and asked the leaders and workers of the 20-party alliance to build a strong resistance against the government.
BNP joint secretary general Ruhul Kabir Rizvi made the call at a press briefing in city’s Gulshan house on Saturday.
Rizvi alleged that the government has taken a step to reshuffle the administration in a bid to implement its plan of killing more people and shedding blood to foil the blockade programme.
Meanwhile, the government has also taken a hard-line to control the anti-government movement. BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia is still under confinement in her office.
Sources said that, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina held a meeting with her party’s senior leaders on Thursday night at Ganabhaban where she discussed the strategy of facing the opposition movement. In this backdrop, political observers opined that a political stalemate has been created in the country.
Prof Dr Imtiaz Ahmed, a political analyst, expressed concern over the rigid stance of the two sides.
He observed that the situation would deteriorate further if the two sides fail to reach a consensus.
