UNB, Dhaka :
BNP on Monday alleged that the government’s ‘evil design’ to harass its leaders and activists though wholesale arrest has taken a serious turn.
In a statement, party secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir said, “The current regime has continued untold repression on opposition
leaders and activists since it assumed power.” The statement was issued protesting the arrest of BNP executive committee member Dr Mazharul Islam Dolon.
Law enforcers arrested Dolon from a Dhanmondi house in the city on Sunday night.
Strongly condemning and protesting the arrest, Fakhrul said the country’s people have got panicked as the government has continued ‘rampant’ arrest of BNP leaders and activists in ‘false cases’ only to malign them politically and socially. “The arrest of Dr Dolon is another example of the government’s vindictive politics,” he observed. Fakhrul demanded the government immediately release Dolon and after withdrawing all the politically-motivated cases filed against him.
