BMA celebrates World Maritime Day-2016

Bangladesh Marine Academy (BMA) on Thursday celebrated the World Maritime Day 2016 at its campus in Chittagong with festive mood.
Professor Abdul Mannan, Chairman of University Grants Commission inaugurated the programme by flying spectacular balloons as the chief guest.

Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Maritime University Rear Admiral ASM Abdul Baten attended the program as special guest while Dr Sajid Hossain, Commandant Marine Engineer of Bangladesh Marine Academy and high officials and representatives of Bangladesh Navy, Coast Guard, Chittagong Port Authority, and Mercantile Marine Department took part in the programme.
The speakers urged all maritime stakeholders to work together and contribute to ‘Blue Economy.’
Professor Abdul Mannan stressed on gaining higher education, use of modern technology, achieving professional excellence and gaining parity with the developed world.
He believed that the university will be hub of all maritime stakeholders to achieve the target.
Rear Admiral ASM Abdul Baten said that Bangabandu Maritime University was established with a view to creating the required maritime human resources base on quality higher education and research for uplifting the country’s economy to sea-based ‘Blue Economy’.
