“Blood donation is a service to humankind, by donating blood we can help a needy and save a precious life. If you are a blood donor, you are a hero to someone, somewhere, who received your gracious gift of life”, said Professor Dr. Mijanur Rahman, Vice-Chancellor of the Jagannath University.
The JnU VC told this as the chief guest while addressing a programme of Badhan (a voluntary blood donor organisation), JnU unit, marking its ‘One Decade Anniversary and Donors Reception’ held at the university central auditorium on Monday.
“One’s blood another life, the blood is the only means of relation, holding the slogan, the organization celebrates its 10th years of anniversary. They work for the betterment of mankind and I really felicitate their initiatives”, Prof Dr Mijan said.
Professor Dr. Munshi M Habibullah, Chairman of the Transfusion Medicine Department of Sir Salimullah Medical College and Hospital was present as the chief speaker and JnU Treasurer Professor Md Selim Bhuiyan and Convener of the organization Md Nayan Mia were present as the special guests in the programme.
The organisation President Jahidul Islam presided over and its General Secretary Farid Uddin conducted the programme.
This year, five persons were accorded life-time reception and sixty persons accorded reception for donation blood by the organisation.
A cultural function was also held on the occasion.
