UNB, Dhaka: Three people, including a publisher of the books of slain writer and blogger Avijit Roy, were stabbed by some unidentified miscreants in the city’s Lalmatia area on Saturday. The victims were identified as publisher Ahmed Rahim Tutul and two writers — Sudeep Kumar Roy Barman alias Ranadeep Basu and Tareque Rahim. Police said a group of miscreants stormed into the office of Tutul’s publishing house, ‘Shuddhoswar Prokashoni’, on the third floor of a building at Lalmitia around 2:45pm and stabbed him indiscriminately, leaving him critically injured. Writers Sudeep Kumar and Tareque were also injured in the attack, said ASI Abdullah Al Mamun of Mohammadpur Police Station. He said they found bullet wound marks on Tarque’s abdomen. Later, they were taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) around 3:15pm. Tutul’s condition was stated to be critical. Contacted, officer-in-charge of Mohammadpur Police Station Jamal Mir said, “We’re still not sure whether there’s any link of militants in the attack. We’ve launched a manhunt to find out the culprits.” Blogger and writer Avijit Roy was killed and his wife Rafida Afrin Banya injured seriously as unidentified criminals stabbed them near TSC on the Dhaka University campus on February 26. Avijit and Rafida, an expatriate couple living in the USA, returned home a few days ahead of the horrific incident as his two books were published on the occasion of Amar Ekushey Book Fair.
