Under the auspices of Bagerhat district unit of Bangladesh Puja Udjapon Parishad blankets were distributed among the poor people of the town in a simple but impressive function held in the local Harishava temple on Monday evening with Shiboprosad Ghose, President of Bagerhat district Hindu,-Baudhya-Christian Oikya Parishad in the chair.
Tapan Kumar Biswas, DC, Bagerhat and Pankaj Chandra Roy, Police Super of Bagerhat were present in the function as the chief guest and special guest respectively and distributed blankets among 350 extremely poor people. Adv. Milon Banarjee, General Secretary of Bagerhat district Hindu-Baudhya-Christian Oikya Parishad was also present in the function as a special guest.
BSS from Rajshahi adds: More than 50 students of Silver Jubilee Government Primary School in Kumarpara area of the city were given blankets on Tuesday to lessen their sufferings of cold biting.
Department of Social Services (DSS) and Centre for Action Research in Barind (CARB) jointly donated the blankets in association with Professional Social Workers Foundation (PSWF) with the main thrust of encouraging the students towards institutional learning.
Member of Bangladesh National Social Welfare Parishad Mozammel Haque, former Deputy Director of DSS Pear Bauksh, PSWF Vice Chairman AKM Sayeed, President of School Managing Committee Towfikur Rahman, Headmaster Ambia Ferdousi Khanom and Khadizatul Kubra, Nahid Parveen and Taslima Khatun from CARB were present at the distribution ceremony.
Speaking on the occasion, the discussants unanimously called for a proper support from the community and other philanthropists and voluntary organizations for making the primary schools more effective and meaningful.
Optimum people’s initiative could be the vital means of boosting students’ enrollment together with preventing dropout in the schools which is crucial for enriching the list of skilled human resources.
They termed the students as future of the nation so all of us should stand beside them for transforming the students into worthy citizens.
They mentioned that the present government of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has been working relentlessly for bringing quality improvement in primary education.
So, the teachers, parents and others concerned should supplement the government endeavor as a whole.
