A gang of unidentified miscreants snatched Tk 1.80 lakh from an agent of BKash, a subsidiary of BRAC Bank and injured him by shooting in the city’s Rampura area on Thursday morning.
The victim has been identified as Iran Munsi (25), owner of Sky International and also a BKash agent, police said.
Quoting the witnesses, Rampura Police Camp’s Inspector Mozammel Haque said that Iran was returning to his shop after collecting Tk 1.80 lakh from different BKash agents in the Rampura area.
When he came in front of Taher telecom on the Arun Road at Rampura, some miscreans tried to snatch the bag of money from him at around 11:00am.
When he was trying to save the money, the miscreants shot him and snatched the bag, the police official added.
Iran was hit by bullets in his thigh and locals rushed him to the Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH), he further said.
Meanwhile, another gang of miscreants snatched Tk 33 lakh from two businessmen and beat them in the city’s Hazaribagh area on Thursday afternoon.
The victims had been identified as Tanim and Jani, police said.
Quoting the witnesses, Hazaribagh Police Station’s Officer-In-Charge (OC) Mainul Islam said when Tanim and Jani were going to the Badalpur Lane of Hazaibagh after receiving the money from BRACK Bank just near Nababpur Police Station, they were attacked by a gang of 6-7 members of miscreants at around 4:30 pm. The miscreants beat them and snatched money at gun point.
He said that Tanim and Janai had taken treatment from a local hospital in the capital.
