Armed muggers looted Tk 5 lakh after shooting a ‘bKash’ representative in the city’s Mirpur area on Sunday.
Jamil Ahmed, manager of Shuvro Trade International Ltd, a ‘bKash’ distributor company, said two armed muggers intercepted Azizul Hakim Sumon, 28, son of Tayab Ali of Aminbazar in Savar, in front of Mirpur Commerce College around 12:30 pm while colleting money from different ‘bKash’ agents on foot.
At one stage, the muggers fired gunshots and snatched the bag containing Tk 5 lakh from Sumon, he said. When fleeing, the muggers also blasted 2-3 crude bombs in a bid to terrorize locals.
He was taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital around 2:15 pm with bullet wounds in his right leg, said Mozammel Haque, in-charge of DMCH police camp.
